Dermal Filler

Restore lost volume, enhance facial features, and smooth lines and wrinkles with dermal filler

About Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore lost volume, soften lines and folds, enhance facial contours, and create more balanced proportions. At MABL Skin Co., we offer a variety of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, including RHA®, Restylane®, and Belotero®, as well as Radiesse®, a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) filler. Each product has unique characteristics, allowing your treatment to be customized based on the area being treated and your individual goals. (new paragraph) Dermal filler can be used throughout the face, including the cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and other areas where added support, contour, or smoothing may be desired. HA fillers work by adding structure and volume while attracting water within the tissue, while Radiesse provides immediate structural support and also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production. The type of filler and placement will be selected during your consultation to achieve natural-looking results that complement your features.

About The Treatment

Will the treatment hurt?

Most patients find dermal filler treatments very tolerable. You may feel a brief pinch, pressure, or mild discomfort during the injections. All fillers at MABL Skin Co. contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps improve comfort as the treatment progresses. Additional comfort measures may also be used depending on the treatment area.

What to expect

Dermal filler appointments typically take 60-90 minutes, with results visible immediately after treatment. Mild swelling, tenderness, and bruising are common and can last anywhere from a few days to two weeks as the treated area settles. Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment to help support a smooth recovery. We recommend scheduling dermal filler treatments at least two weeks before any major event, special occasion, or vacation to allow adequate time for swelling and bruising to resolve.

How long will filler last?

Dermal filler results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years or longer, depending on the type of filler used, the area treated, and your individual metabolism. Areas with more movement, such as the lips, may require more frequent maintenance, while filler placed in areas such as the cheeks or chin may last longer. During your consultation, we’ll discuss what you can expect based on your specific treatment plan.

Pre-treatment instructions

Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Tylenol, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Blood Thinners, St Johns Wart, and prednisone can cause a reaction to dermal filler injections. If you are prescribed any of these medications, you must be cleared by your prescribing physician to stop the medication prior to injection. If you are taking any of the medications listed above that are non-prescriptive or “over the counter” you must stop taking 7 days prior to your treatment.

Do not consume alcohol the night before your treatment.

How do I know which filler is right for me?

You don’t need to know which filler you need before your appointment—that’s what your consultation is for! The best filler depends on the area being treated, your facial anatomy, your goals, and the type of result you’re looking for. We’ll discuss your options and recommend the product and treatment approach best suited to you before any injections are performed.

Are there any reasons why I should not be treated with fillers?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Active infection, rash, cold sore, acne outbreak, or open wound in or near the treatment area
  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to the filler, its ingredients, or lidocaine when applicable
  • History of severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis when contraindicated for the selected filler
  • Certain bleeding disorders, uncontrolled medical conditions, or active autoimmune/inflammatory conditions
  • Recent dental work, oral surgery, or certain procedures near the planned treatment date
  • Previous permanent filler, certain implants in the treatment area, or other medical history that may make treatment inappropriate
  • **This list is not all-inclusive. Your medical history, medications, allergies, and previous treatments will be reviewed prior to treatment to determine if dermal filler is appropriate for you.
